By completing the AST1 course, expertly led by Tamara and the Alpine Air Adventure team, I now feel ready to progress into guided backcountry splitboard tours. The online theory portion provided a solid introduction to the fundamentals of avalanche safety. Gaining a clearer understanding of snowpack, terrain characteristics, and avalanche reports really highlighted how essential proper education is for staying safe and riding pow within your comfort zone. The field day was an eye‑opening experience, especially practicing with an avalanche transceiver and learning how to manage rescue scenarios. I highly recommend this course, and I’d like to personally thank Tamara for her exceptional guiding. She’s a true backcountry badass who will absolutely spark your passion for exploring beyond the resort.

We had a great time learning about ice climbing with Jared, Jeff and Dom. The views were spectacular and the instructions they provided in email and the pre meeting were all we needed. We all felt very safe and were monitored to make sure we learned the proper procedures.

Powerful, challenging 4 day AST 2 course, instructed by the knowledgeable Tamara Dykshoorn. She doesn't feed you the information and encourages one to really dig into the available resources and develop one's own confidence. Tamara also took us to some great skiing in between lots of skills development practice.

I did the beginner ice climbing trip with Jeff at Johnston Canyon and it was amazing! It was my first time, and Jeff was super supportive and explained all the equipment clearly. He encouraged teamwork, which created a great group atmosphere. Such a unique, unforgettable experience — I can’t recommend Alpine Air enough!

Our recent adventure on August,15 to Lake O’Hara with Alpine Air Adventures was nothing short of unforgettable. We had the privilege of hiking part of the Alpine Circuit with our guide, Mitch, and it truly exceeded every expectation we had. From the very beginning, Mitch made the experience feel comfortable and exciting. He was welcoming, approachable, and easy to talk to, which instantly put us at ease. Throughout the hike, he shared fascinating stories and bits of history about the surrounding lakes and mountains. Having that background really deepened our appreciation for the incredible landscape around us. Lake O’Hara itself is breathtaking, and with Mitch’s guidance we were able to see nearly every lake in the area. Each turn in the trail revealed a new view that was more spectacular than the last—turquoise lakes, dramatic peaks, and sweeping alpine meadows. It was one of those rare experiences where you’re constantly in awe of nature’s beauty. What stood out most was how caring and attentive Mitch was during the entire day. He made sure we were comfortable, kept the pace enjoyable, and created an atmosphere where we could fully soak in the scenery without worry. His balance of professionalism and friendliness made the hike feel like we were exploring with a knowledgeable friend rather than just a guide. This trip gave us memories that will stay with us forever. Lake O’Hara is already such a special place, but doing it with Alpine Air Adventures—and especially with Mitch—turned it into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We couldn’t recommend Mitch and Alpine Air Adventures more highly. If Lake O’Hara is on your list (and it should be!), this is the way to do it.
